Vancouver, BC – Miscellaneous Productions is putting on a two day event with some pretty amazing details. Raincity Rap Festival is a festival that includes live performances, industry conferences and contest being held at various venues in Vancouver on October 4 and 5 with special guests Maestro Fresh Wes, Chin Injeti and Kinnie Star. Along with a slew of other amazing performances, some industry discussion panels and more, up-and-coming rappers and singers can enter into the Urban Music Contest to win some studio time with Grammy winner Chin Injeti himself. CONCERT SERIES AND URBAN MUSIC CONTEST

In addition to two days of free and all ages events at The Roundhouse MISCELLANEOUS Productions’ Raincity Rap.

Biennial Festival and Conference is pleased to present featured artists Maestro Fresh Wes, Kinnie Starr and Chin Injeti in two nights of exclusive performances.

Raincity Rap will include an opening night Celebrity Jam Session at Calabash Bistro October 4th at 11pm and an Urban Music Contest for emerging rappers and singers on closing night at Fortune Sound Club October 5th at 8pm. Tickets for both events are sliding scale $5-15 and available at the door only. Admission is 19+. Audience members must provide photo ID.

Featured Artists: Maestro Fresh Wes, the Godfather of Canadian Hip-Hop, has received two Juno Awards and his albums have reached gold and platinum status. His signature song Let Your Backbone Slide was the first Canadian hip-hop single to ever go gold and remains the biggest selling hip-hop single in Canada. Maestro’s latest album, Orchestrated Noise, is now available. Maestro will be performing at the Jam Session at the Calabash Bistro.

Kinnie Starr was nominated for a Juno Award as ‘Best New Artist’ in 2003 and, in 2008 was honoured by the Royal British Museum in Victoria, Canada which formally recognized her as one of BC’s cultural icons. Her latest album Kiss It was released with Aporia Records on August 20, 2013. Kinnie will be performing at both events at the Calabash Bistro and Fortune Sound Club.

Chin Injeti is an enormously talented producer and artist associated with two Grammy Award- winning projects and has worked with P!nk, Eminem, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent and Madchild. Chin is also a multi-instrumentalist, co-founder of innovative Juno Award-winning R&B trio Bass Is Base (Funkmobile) and is currently a Universal Music Canada A&R consultant. The first Chin Injeti single and accompanying video “On The Run” will be released this September. Chin will be hosting and performing at both events at the Calabash Bistro and Fortune Sound Club.

Featured guest performers at the Calabash Bistro and Fortune Sound Club include Sophia Danai, Omar Khan and three musicians from the BOOM BOOMS.

Raincity Rap’s closing night Urban Music Contest at the Fortune Sound Club will provide the winner with exclusive studio time with Grammy Award-winning producer and performer Chin Injeti.

MISCELLANEOUS Productions will be accepting applications and selecting contestants from those emailing in the requisite information and support material/demo links. We especially encourage applications from talented and diverse youth ages 19 to 25 years old from across the Lower Mainland.

To apply, email elaine@miscellaneousproductions.ca with the subject title “Contest” by Sunday, September 22 at 12 midnight.

Include one paragraph as to why you would like to be selected to compete, a photo of no more than 1 MB and a link to an online video, MP3 or SoundCloud of your musical work. We are prioritizing emerging artists age 19 to 25 years old who rap or sing soul and/or R&B. Please also let us know how old you are. Please do not include MP3 or video attachments. If you do, you will be instantly disqualified.
