Dragon Fli Empire – Back Up ft. Qwazaar & Thaione Davis [Video]

Calgary, ABDragon Fli Empire just dropped some sweet new visuals for the track “Back Up,” off their forthcoming Mission Statement project. DJ Cosm and Teekay teamed up with Chicago rappers Qwazaar (of Typical Cats) and Thaione Davis for this old-school-style social commentary track.

The visuals were coordinated by Solomon Caine. He took the animated Black Dynamite series (yes, the Adult Swim one) and selected several clips to accompany the track. Brilliant, right? Check it out below via Vimeo and then head over to Bandcamp to cop a free download of the track.

And just so you know: Mission Statement drops on Nov. 5. DJ Cosm and Teekay have been so busy with their respective side projects that they haven’t actually released a full-length album together since 2009. So this project is long overdue. The 13-track album includes collaborations with Sadat X, Ghettosocks, Relic, and more. And to make things even better, the guys are throwing their release party in conjunction with the Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth show at Republik Nightclub (brought to you by our friends over at The Union and True Rhythm). It’s going to be one banging party. Get ready for it.
