Zeek Illa – Cleopatra ft. J. Soul [Audio]
Winnipeg, MB – Zeek Illa just released his newest single, “Cleopatra,” (featuring J. Soul and produced by Phenom), off his upcoming album entitled I Am ILLA (Illustrating Love Loyalty Ambition), which drops this November. “Cleopatra” is a testimony to the hard-working, independent, and more-than-loyal modern queens of today. Yes, they still exist. So forget about short-selling for dimes, because Zeek Illa is talking about the women who emulate dollars, for sure.
“I basically wanted to make a track that would paint a picture of how a goddess, or how a woman who holds it down would be,” said Illa. Please note: not a dime or a bad bitch. “I get faded and let my mind wonder to wherever it takes me. This particular time it took me to this place,” he said. Give it a listen below.
The track opens with the acknowledgment of the historical Cleopatra, with serenading flow from J. Soul. Something that should be very invigorating for the ladies: “She’s the one that I’m after/Oooh/ I gotta have her.” The illustrious tones and mesmerizing deep synth (brought on by the production of Phenom) command vivid attention, as if Cleopatra herself stepped into the listener’s mind with her vicarious aura and seductive figure.
Zeek Illa also provides insight into Cleopatra’s regal character, renowned mindset, and leadership qualities with lyrics such as, “Last Pharaoh to the dynasty/She redesign the catalogue/ Yeah she stay as fly as me.” Think about that redesigning of the catalog. Sounds like trendsetting, to me. No, she does not follow trends.
Fellas, if you don’t have a woman like this riding for you then I really don’t know what you’re doing with your life. Women like this are a must to build with. Even Zeek agrees. “I’m working on one special Cleo right now.” he told HipHopCanada. “We really good friends right now, which could lead to something special in the future.”
