Hip Hop for a cause: Gottingen Street for Scott Jones [News]
Halifax, NS – On November 28th, over 40 artists and bands will perform across seven stages on Gottingen Street in downtown Halifax. There will be Rock, Soul, Roots, Drag, and of course, Hip Hop. One thing we can guarantee? It will be the most meaningful night of music you could attend on the East Coast this year. Why? Because all ticket sales will be donated to the Scott Jones Trust.
Scott Jones is a 27-year old music teacher from New Glasgow who was stabbed over Thanksgiving weekend, because of his sexual orientation. His spine was severed and he is now paralyzed from the waist down as a result of this brutal hate crime.
“Scott’s hope and message of positivity in the face of adversity is inspiring,” said event organizer Georgia Richards. “This event is an opportunity to support Scott financially as his whole life changes, and to celebrate his courageous spirit. It is also a chance to take a stand against intolerance – we won’t stop speaking up, protecting each other and making our community feel safe. Everyone deserves to be safe. And we need you to help us.”
