Mature words with Mellowhigh’s Left Brain [Interview]

Vancouver, BC – As one might already be aware, the boys of Odd Future aren’t exactly known for their composed demeanor and serious responses. They fly by the seat of their pants basically saying and doing whatever the fuck they feel like, which has essentially become part of their brand of thrasher, California posse raps. When it comes to side group Mellowhigh – composed of OF’s Hodgy Beats, Domo Genesis and Left Brain – the trio may have matured in sound but are keeping their signature antics in tact. But hey, that’s why we love them, right? Before making their way to Vancouver to tear down the Rio Theatre at an all ages gig on November 19 we had an opportunity to catch some words with Left Brain in a less than serious interview on what can be expected from Mellowhigh on their upcoming tour dates. Check out the interview below.

Mellowhigh [Interview]

HipHopCanada: There’s a clear progression of skills on your latest album since BLACKENDWHITE. How do you feel you’ve matured as artists and as a group?

Left Brain: How would you like to suck my balls? Mr. Garrison.

HipHopCanada: What’s the energy like at a Mellowhigh show versus a full Odd Future jam?

Left Brain: The energy is like Mellowhigh is going to Six Flags..going to OF is like Universal Studios.

HipHopCanada: What kind of experience  can fans expect from a Mellowhigh show?

Left Brain: We don’t want them to expect anything, they already know what to do. And if they never heard us or seen us before than they came to the right place.

HipHopCanada: What’s the craziest thing a fan has done to get your attention?

Left Brain: A nigga licked some throw-up off the stage in LA before, that was just stupid.

HipHopCanada: Can we expect any new projects or collabs from Mellowhigh in the new year?

Left Brain: Of course.

Kassandra has her hands in several cookie jars. Born in Ontario but raised on the West coast, she is currently located in the wonderfully diverse East side of Vancouver. With a passion for all things creative KassKills is a hair stylist by day and HipHopCanada's West Coast Regional Editor by night. Music and public relations are her true passions and although she didn't inherit the talent of her musician father she makes her mark on the industry through other avenues. By night you can catch KassKills at almost every Vancity hip-hop show, shaking hands and snapping photos while covering and supporting the local music scene. On top of that she works closely with one of the cities most reputable concert promotors, Timbre Concerts. Kass is a hustler by nature and works hard to play a key role Vancity's hip-hop scene. Over the years she has seen, photographed and interviewed many of hip-hop's top artists such as T.I, Raekwon, Sheek Louch, Noreaga, Black Milk, Waka Flocka, Ab-Soul & Dizaster.
