Cityreal & Wes Mackey – Nightlife [Video]
Vancouver, BC – Yesterday a long-awaited federal panel decision approved Enbridge’s controversial $6.5-billion Northern Gateway pipeline, but the project still faces major hurdles, including legal action by First Nations. The National Energy Board-led panel said the project could go ahead if Enbridge met 209 conditions. The 1,177-kilometre pipeline would carry oil from the Oil Sands region of Alberta to Kitimat, BC. It would pass through fragile rain forests and other ecosystems, putting them at risk of an oil leak or spill. The pipeline would also result in approx. 220 oil tankers traveling up the BC coast annually.
Earlier this year, Cityreal and videographer Stuey Kubrick went to Fort McMurray, Alberta to shoot a video for the song “Nightlife,” featuring Wes Mackey, off his Good Morning Blues duet album. The video exposes severe issues with oil sands production and the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline. YouTube recently took down Cityreal’s video under suspicious circumstances of a YouTube terms violation. After much trouble and effort, the video has just been reposted under a new link. Please check it out at below and spread the word.
Cityreal has been writing and producing his second solo album called Lost In Vancouver with the help of Toronto piano prodigy and orchestral composer, Todor Kobakov. The album, due out in 2014, has been in the works for over a year and already features Swollen Members, Saukrates and the Vancouver film orchestra.
