Nominations now open for the 2014 SiriusXM Indie Awards [News]

Toronto, ON – The 14th Annual SiriusXM Indie Awards return to Canadian Music week on May 10, 2014 at Kool Haus. And nominations for the awards are now open. And you all know that we can’t have an awards ceremony without any nominees.

Submit your nomination (or multiple nominations) for a chance to be recognized by your industry peers, media and fans alike. Help us celebrate your achievements among the independent music community. Peep all of the details after the jump.

Submissions are being accepted through indies.ca until Feb. 28, 2014. A fee of $50 applies to all nominations. But get this: if you send in your submission before Feb. 14, you only need to pay a fee of $35. So get your hustle on, people. Feb. 14 is only a few days away. Artists or their representatives (including labels and managers) can submit nominations on their behalf.

The eligibility period for all awards categories runs from Sept. 1, 2012 through Feb. 1, 2014. Nominees must have been active during the eligibility period and are based on the performance of the group or artist either on record or in live performances.

And if you’re a fan looking to attend the festivities, it’s all going down at Kool Haus in Toronto on May 10. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $49.50 (plus service charges), and will be available for purchase soon. Keep it locked.

SiriusXM Indie Awards: Criteria

The Canadian Independent Music Awards known as “The Indies” acknowledge, promote and honour the achievements of Canadian and International independent artists in the independent music sector.

Nominees will be posted on the Indies website – www.indies.ca – with a photo, bio and audio stream to be voted on by the general public. The winners of The Indies are determined by a combination of fan and industry voting.
Exceptions: Industry Builder & Indies Hall of Fame

An Artist must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant. At least 50% of the Group or Duo must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants. 50% of the nominee’s songwriting and recording must be 100% Canadian.
Exception: International categories

Canadian Music Week has authorized the presentation of 36 Awards (not including the Industry Builder and Indies Hall of Fame) at an event to be held during Canadian Music Week. Only one award will be presented in each category.

There must be at least five (5) nominees in each category in order for that category to remain on the ballot for the current year. If there are less than five (5) nominees, the category may be put on hiatus for the current year only.

The eligibility period for all awards categories will run from September 1, 2012 through February 1, 2014. Nominees must have been active during the eligibility period and are based on the performance of the group or artist either on record or in live performances. Voting rules are subject to change without notice.

Nomination applications for the Indies Awards are available through the Indie Awards website at www.indies.ca. The Indie Awards will take place in Toronto on Saturday May 10, 2014 at the Kool Haus.

All submitting bands/artists will receive ONE complimentary delegate pass for the 2014 Music Summit (est. value $799.00 each). All bands/artists must pre-register for the Music Summit. Registration details will be supplied in April 2014 with notification of your nomination. For more information on the Music Summit schedule, please check the Canadian Music Week website at www.cmw.net. To submit a nomination for the 14th Annual Indie Awards, individuals (bands, artists or representatives) must fill out an on-line application through the Indie Awards website – www.indies.ca

A fee of $50.00 CAD is applied to all nominations. A discounted fee of $35.00 CAD is available to all bands/artists who submit their nominations before February 14, 2014. After this date, the full fee of $50.00 CAD will be applied. A fee is applied for each category nomination. For label and management representatives submitting multiple artist submissions, a fee of $150.00 CAD is applied as a one-time fee for all submissions. A discounted fee of $135.00 CAD is available to all labels/managers who submit their nominations before February 14, 2014. After this date, the full fee of $150.00 CAD will be applied.
