Buck N’ Nice – So Strong For So Long [Audio]
Ottawa, ON – CBC recently debuted the latest single from our dudes, Buck N’ Nice (MC SawBuck and DJ So Nice). The track is called “So Strong For So Long.” At first listen, it seems like a heartfelt turmoil-ridden breakup song. It is; but it’s so much more than that. It’s a break-up song about hip-hop.
Buck N’ Nice are unapologetic when it comes to their critique of the current state of hip-hop. They feel as though the rap game has become a bit too gimmicky. And they’re just trying to call it as they see it. Or as SawBuck so articulately put it when he sent me this track: they’re trying to bring H.E.R. back. But what I love about these cats is that they’re actually practicing what they’re preaching. You feel me? Instead of starting Twitter beef with their peers, or writing elaborate rapper-bashing Facebook posts, they use their craft to speak to what’s getting them all hot-and-bothered. But don’t worry; the track is totally interchangeable, too. I mean, if you’re fighting with your boo, throw this jam on and it’ll jive with you, just as well. Check it below.
And make sure you listen all the way through. Because at the end, you’ll catch some audio from the interview Buck N’ Nice did with CBC. And it gets deep. Really deep.
Also, keep your ears to the ground because BNN is dropping their highly-anticipated Us Versus Them album later on this year. And it’s going to be illness. Because these two really don’t care about keeping up with what anyone else does in hip-hop. Even in terms of their production; I can’t begin to explain what So Nice does with his beats. It’s not boom-bappy. It’s not trap-rappy. It’s definitely not EDM. It’s just So Nice.
