CJ Flemings – City Ain’t Know ft. Task The RaDD & J.O. The Corrupted [Audio]

Montreal, QC – Last week, CJ Flemings dropped his latest track “City Ain’t Know.” This track hears this young MC collaborating with his fellow Montrealites, TasK The RaDD (of Big Dreams) and J.O. The Corrupted. Check it out.

In the last couple of years, Canadians have proven that they understand the very specific ethos American hip-hop represents. Whether it’s because we’re geographically removed from the realities our neighbours to the south frequently lyricize, or because our reality is just different – it’s undeniable that Canadian MCs have been masterfully replicating and infusing American hip-hop culture with our own for decades. “City Ain’t Know” is no exception here and as Task The RaDD hits the beat we hear one of the most skillful homages to East Coast lyrical legend AZ I’ve ever heard produced.

The track features this ethereal beat produced by BiirdxLahghost, and “City Ain’t Know” only gets more interesting as CJ Flemings jumps on the track in for verse two. Fleming’s overtly enunciated lyrics and screwed bars align this rapper closer to Pimp C than Drake – a change of pace that makes all the difference. And it’s all topped off with J.O. The Corrupted’s domineering lyrics. Songs like “City Ain’t Know” are good examples of the cross-culturally infused talent that defines Canadian hip-hop.
