Drake announces OVO Fest style concert series for Houston [News]
Toronto, ON – OVO Fest isn’t moving to Houston, but residents of the largest Texas city have taken to social media in droves to express their excitement for Drake’s new concert plans.
With OVO Fest being an annual thing, the city of Toronto has been guaranteed at least one monumental, epic, unforgettable (you get the point) concert per year. Now Drake is looking to spread that love to another one of his favourite cities with the announcement of the Houston Appreciation Weekend (H.A.W.) concert series.
Drake’s love for Houston has been well documented in his music for years and the city is even where the OVO artist met Lil Wayne for the first time. So Far Gone featured the popular “Houstonaltantavegas” banger and the Houston references can be found throughout his latest album, Nothing Was The Same. On the DJ Khaled single, “No New Friends,” he makes his love for the city clear: “H-Town my second home like I’m James Harden.”
Much like OVO Fest, H.A.W. will likely feature an impressive line-up of artists from both out of town, as well some H-Town favourites like Bun B or Scarface.
The latest news comes in the form of a Drake tweet: “HAW dates coming soon.” Stay tuned for more details.
