A.Y.E. – 90 Now [Review]

Calgary, AB – How can someone as young as 22 manage to embody the Golden Age of rap? Let’s be real for a minute, here – he or she would have been in diapers during that era. So how would he or she really know?

A real artist knows; and that’s how A.Y.E. done did it on his latest mixtape 90 Now. From beginning to end, it’s nothing but ’90s influenced beats – and A.Y.E. produced them all.

Listening to 90 Now took me back to watching Much Music videos in my parents’ living room: Tribe, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, The Pharcyde – they all tie into the vibe of the entire tape. And that’s just to name a few. Tracks like “Shooby Do” (featuring Jazzlib Collective) and “Keep it Real” prove that A.Y.E. is just a natural. From writing, to flow and production; you can tell it all comes naturally to him and he stays consistent throughout.

If 90 Now is any indication of what to expect from A.Y.E in the future, then I’m all about. Make sure you give this one a download.
