Drake – Days In The East (Prod. PARTYNEXTDOOR) [Audio] #SOTD

Toronto, ONOriginally published April 3, 2014 – After Drake‘s surprise “Draft Day” single hit the web on Apr. 1, we thought we’d reached our monthly quota of Drake tuneage. But no; the Champagne Papi just released yet another new joint entitled “Days In The East” – our Song of the Day.

It’s one of the Drakiest tracks we’ve heard lately. It’s got the feels; so many feels. And emotions (which are seemingly directed at Rihanna). You know what they say: April showers bring May flowers; or some ish like that? Well this year, April showers bring the Drizzy Drizzle. And the Internet can’t even handle it.

The track was produced by OVO’s own PARTYNEXTDOOR, with co-production courtesy of Noah “40” Shebib. The track isn’t a freestyle. But it has a freestyle kind-of-a feel to it. It’s got that minimal production. And it honestly sounds like Drake just had one of those, “Yo. I just need to get on a beat, and spit every single feel I’m feeling right now” type of moments.

And the best part of this whole joint is when Drake gets deep about taking love advice from Erykah Badu: “Remember one night I went to Erykah Badu house, she made tea for me/ We talked about love and what life could really be for me/ She said, ‘when that shit is real, you just know’.”

This is gold. Because Erykah Badu sipping tea with Drizzy and talking about relationships. Think about it.

yes. Drake over a PARTYNEXTDOOR produced beat…that’s my flavour right now. straight up, moody, bluntly honest and in the moment. i agree, it has a free-style vibe to it. dig this.
