Eve makes her mark on Vancity [Review]

Vancouver, BC – Philly Queen Eve was in the house at Fortune Sound this week and can we just say…damn girl. Hotter than ever the Ruff Ryders’ first lady made quite the impression on Vancity with an epic performance to a nearly sold-out house.

Local emcee AukoKrat got the party started and was the perfect introduction, especially since she’s probably Vancity’s best example a female emcee holding their own in a male-dominated genre. Veteran girl-power babe Cherchez also added her sweet signature to the party from the DJ booth.

Eve stepped onstage and there was a short, steady stream of every track you would hope she would spit. You know the ones ladies. You were rockin’ that Scorpion album until the wheels fell off, am I right? Tracks like “Who’s That Girl” and “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” were executed perfectly. Eve isn’t just a pretty, strong babe – she can spit and she’s still killing it.

The best part of the hip-hop show is the inevitable ‘bring the ladies onstage’ routine – but usually the headliner isn’t the baddest babe in the rap game which made it kinda hard to focus on any of the other ladies and their dance routines. Shout out to Blondtron for making some magic happen onstage though – we see you girl.

Appropriately closing with “She Bad Bad” from her most recent album Lip Lock, the set went by quickly but Eve wasn’t short on leaving a big impact. Stunning and smooth she gave just enough to make a mark while leaving the them thirsty for more…and then everyone picked their jaws up off the floor and went home.
