5 Questions with Jaclyn Gee [Interview]

Vancouver, BC – If you haven’t heard of Miss Jaclyn Gee by now, it’s about time to get familiar. This young beauty has made waves since releasing her debut album Autonomous and signing to Snak The Ripper’s Stealth Bomb Records label. Not only is she on the come up with her distinct, unique sound but she’s also a serious sweetheart. This girl next door backed is by a team of rowdy bad-boys and it’s all apart of her charm – that and she’s super talented.

Check out 5 Questions with Jaclyn Gee below and be sure to catch her on the Just Giver Tour now – full tour dates below.

5 Questions with Jacyln Gee [Interview] -

HipHopCanada: Your recent release Autonomous has a bit of a different sound from your Stealth Bomb label mates – how do fans responded to your music when you all play shows together?

Jaclyn Gee: I think whether the fans love my show or they hate it, they can have an appreciation for it because it brings something different to the table. I try to incorporate more rap into my live shows because I know the fans respond well to it when the beats are more hype. I kind of weave my softer tracks through so it brings a nice balance. Everyone seems happy that way.

HipHopCanada:  You’re currently on a long tour with Snak and Merkules, what are the pros and cons of being the only girl in the crew on tour?

Jaclyn Gee:  I’d say the cons would be that they never fail to have stinky feet, Merk snores, Snak can be a grump and sometimes i’m annoyed by the dude talk. Other then that I love them to death and I feel safe around them. I know they have my back so hard and that I can trust them with my life. If problems arise we talk about it and squash it. Couldn’t ask for a better team!

HipHopCanada: You have a beautiful and unique voice but you also rap as well. Where are you more comfortable?

Jaclyn Gee:  I never really thought I would rap to be honest but one day it just came out of me and people liked it so I went with it. I guess I would say I’m most comfortable singing though because i’ve been doing it my whole life where as rapping is new and I still have a lot to learn, but that’s exciting to me!

HipHopCanada: There is a heavy fan base following your crews, Stealth Bomb and Ephin / Stompdown – do you have any crazy fan stories?

Jaclyn Gee: When Snak and I toured Europe there were a few occasions where we were sure that some fans wanted to kidnap us. Luckily we had security and Onyx with us or it could have turned out like that movie hostel, haha. There’s always interesting things happening at the shows but it keeps us entertained.

HipHopCanada: What’s coming up next for you?

Jaclyn Gee:  Right now i’m working on my next EP set to release sometime in the early fall. I’ll be dropping some singles and touring throughout Spring and Summer with the crew. I plan to keep building until I have enough of a fan base to drop a full length album. Be on the lookout for my new single “Run Ya Mouth” dropping May 20th on iTunes.
