#BigTicket: Hip Hop Soul edition goes down on May 16 [News]

Toronto, ON – Brought to you by EasParkPro and sponsored by HipHopCanada, #BigTicket returns to the T-Dot on May 16 for another night of hip-hop, jams, and good folks. And this month’s showcase is a special Hip Hop Soul edition, featuring our girl Melanie Durrant, as well as Trish, Jay Evans, Allan Rayman, Brotha J, and Hakeen Roze.

It all goes down at Wrongbar (1279 Queen St. W) in Toronto, with doors opening at 10 p.m. Host Dan-e-o will be in the building, as per usual. Cover is $10 before 11:30 p.m. This is a 19+ event, so make sure you bring your I.D. and all of that other important business. Peep all of the event details, and check the flyer after the jump.

Melanie Durrant

Melanie Durrant is a 2-time Juno nominee (2013 & 2014) and a true entertainer. She has received multiple accolades though out her career including a Much Music Video Award nod for her single “Where I’m Going” and Stylus Awards winner for Single Of The Year for her song “Bang Bang” featuring Kardinal Offishall. In 2013, Melanie Durrant’s reggae influenced lovers rock single “Made For Love” was nominated for Reggae Single of Year for the Juno Awards and she was most recently nominated for her single “Gone” in the R&B / Soul category once again at this years JUNOs.

Currently Melanie Durrant has been working diligently on new material for her sophomore album. Full of melodic surprises heavenly harmonies and bold direction, Melanie Durrant embodies the voice, attitude and sound that have blessed Canada and the whole world has been waiting for.

May 16 is your chance to see this hit maker live on the #BigTicket Stage as she preforms new material as well as a few of her classics.

Jay Evans

Jay Evans was born in Toronto Canada and at a young age his mother decided to relocate the family to Los Angeles, where she performed background vocals for super producer Quincy Jones. Clearly the corner stone that introduced him to the music world. Often compared to artists such as, Usher and R. Kelly, Jay is a multi talented singer, song writer and producer. His unique style continues to evolve in every dimension bringing his versatile falsetto voice, his talents range from Soul, R&B, Hip Hop and Dance. Catch the Bad Chick hit maker May 16 at #BigTicket.


Perhaps it’s the relentless depth of her passion or the intoxicating quality of her voice, but the dance-driven, RnB-pop infused entertainer has an undeniable star power. Trish’s music intertwines the elements of electrifying R&B and captivating funk with an edgy hip-hop feel. Check out Real Shit feat. A Game and the popular Up There in rotation now on Much. Allan Rayman

Allan Rayman is blazing a trail through the musical sound scape while pioneering a new genre of music in the process. Blending his Jim Morrison infused crooning with an emcee’s ability to play with words and a touch of r&b and reggae thrown in to the mix. That’s what you get with his hit H.O.H.W. Be excited about seeing Allan live and hearing what he brings to the #BigTicket stage May. 16.


#BigTicket host Dan-e-o will be premiering the video for his track “GIRL” off of his Inevitable LP.
