Mike Boyd’s Number 1’s: John Legend – All of Me ft. Mike Boyd [Audio]

Enfield, NS – We just announced that Mike Boyd recently launched a new weekly series called Mike Boyd’s Number 1’s. In case you didn’t know: Mike is Classified’s younger brother. And he recently launched his …Note the Sarcasm album via Halflife Records Inc/Universal Canada.

So here’s how the series is going down: each week, Mike records a verse to a #1 single; regardless of whether he loves it or hates it. These verses lead up to the premiere of Mike’s forthcoming single release, “1 Hit Wonder.” For the second installation of the series, Mike drops a verse over John Legend’s deeply intimate “All Of Me.” Check out Mike’s verse below, and head over to Mixcloud to peep the rest of the series.

Can I be real here, for a minute? I have the biggest – ever – soft spot for John Legend. What’s more; I have the biggest soft spot for this song, in particular. I have five different remixes of it on rotation in iTunes right now. Ugh. Anyways, I was worried that Mike was going to turn this into a comedic song. Because he’s a fun rapper like that. But this song is obviously not meant to be light-hearted. Because it is John Legend. And it is feelings.

So here’s a shocker: Mike hits us with one of his most introspective and serious verses, yet. This is a side to Mike Boyd that I’m not as familiar with. He gives us all of himself – in proper John Legend fashion – as he drops bars for his girl: “You gave me all of you/ When you said “I do”/ And it’s still feeling like I owe you.”
