DillanPonders – Drown [Video]

Toronto, ON – Yesterday, SmashMouth Music Group’s own DillanPonders debuted new visuals for his track “Drown” via Noisey. Dillan hits us with that signature drug-saturated flow and invites us to come “drown” with him. DP is one of few who manages to take stoner rap to a whole other level. Instead of flaunting a lifestyle of tokes and smokes, he brings us into this eerie chemical-saturated world that’s full of spacey trap beats, deep emotional voids, lots of pills and powders, and plenty of willing women.

The video was directed and edited by Rajeevan Nithiyananthan, and produced by Brenden Hewko and Michael Goitanich. The audio was produced by Tay Lewis (another member in the SMMG posse). DillanPonders is gearing up to drop his highly anticipated The Boy Who Lived project on Aug. 13. So check the visuals below, and keep it locked on that album drop.

So, let’s get into the video at-hand. This is like Orange Is The New Black-meets-barnhouse turn-up shindig. I’ve never actually seen Orange Is The New Black. I just know it takes place in a jail, and they wear those orange jail suits. And DP is wearing an orange jail suit. Ergo, my comparison.

And, yo – is that a samurai sword around his waist? It probably is. Because he would do that. And then he’ll slice you with his wordplay, cut you with his rhyme schemes, and chop you with his chopper flow. Or something like that. Or maybe the dude just likes swords. Either way, seems legit.

Also of supreme importance: if you watch past the closing credits on the video – you get to see some footage of Dillan shooting flames out of his nether regions. Because he’s DillanPonders (for the record, you want to skip to 2:30 to see this – you’re welcome). Also, shout-out to SeT. I see you doing that cameo over there.
