Today at Ottawa Bluesfest: Danny Brown, RL Grime & more [News]
Ottawa, ON – Today marks the official start to one of the biggest annual festivals in Canada and this time they’re also celebrating their 20th anniversary. RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest: 20th Anniversary Edition will take place from July 3 through to July 13 (except Monday, July 7) at Ottawa’s Lebreton Flats (and offsite at Casino Lac-Leamy).
For weekdays, the festival gets started at 6 p.m. and on weekends doors open at noon. For each of the 10 festival days, Lebreton Flats will feature 5 different stages (Bell Stage, Claridge Homes Stage, Black Sheep Stage, River Stage, and the Barney Danson Theatre inside).
Today’s biggest draws for hip-hop heads is Danny Brown, taking the Claridge Homes Stage at 6 p.m. for an hour set, and trap music king RL Grime taking the Black Sheep Stage at 8:15 p.m.
Other names we’ve been looking forward to seeing are Gary Clark Jr. (“a mind-blowing guitarist, a dazzling songwriter and an engagingly soulful singer”), Montreal dub-step duo Adventure Club, and award-winning folk-rock duo Tegan and Sara.
Don’t forget, the festival will have performances from Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, Tyler, The Creator, Childish Gambino, Deltron 3030, Action Bronson and much more! Click here to check out today’s full schedule or click the jump for more details.
