Drake entices Kevin Durant to join Raptors; NBA fines Toronto $25,000 [News]
Toronto, ON – It’ll seem like a small price to pay if Kevin Durant ends up joining the Raptors, but we won’t know how it plays out for couple of more years. As the NBA reported earlier though, they’ve fined the Toronto Raptors $25,000 in accordance with their anti-meddling policies, after Drake built a case for KD joining the Raptors’ organization during OVO Fest.
Durant was in attendance at OVO Fest, where Drake encouraged the crowd to give him a sample of the type of support he’d expect to see if he joined the team. As you can see in the clip located after the jump link, the mostly Toronto crowd gave him a hero’s welcome.
Durant becomes a free agent in 2016 so the $25,000 could be perceived as just a cheap expense to plant the Raptors seed in his ear, well before his actual availability on the free agency market.
