Cam Smith – Mad Crack (Prod. RitchCraft) [Video] #SOTD
Dartmouth, NS – Dave Hung directs the new visuals from Dartmouth’s own Cam Smith. The gore-filled “Mad Crack” pays tribute to the ’80s horror film, Street Trash. This video is a follow up to Smith’s recent video drop for his lead single “Turbo” featuring xxx clvr. Both songs are featured on his long-awaited upcoming album, Cannon, which is set for release September 30. Cuts were provided by award-winning DJ Plaeboi and the song was mixed/mastered by Corey LeRue.
Smith comments, “With this video we wanted to step back and create something cinematic. Music videos today have lost the story telling elements that made ‘Thriller’ so memorable. We wanted to bring that excitement back to life with our own devilish twist.”
This Ritchcraft-produced banger is HipHopCanada’s Song of the Day. Click the jump to check out the video and for more information about Cannon.
Smith spent the majority of 2013 working on Cannon. Embracing a grand sonic vision, he stepped outside of his comfort zone and began collaborating with new producers and musicians. This infusion of new ideas and methods pushed his work to new levels as 808 beats lay down a rumbling groundwork for echoing synths and samples. From the shimmering intro of “Gold Drapes” to the Dancehall vibes of “Nonsense,” Cannon delivers a focused chaos. It showcases the young MC/producer presenting the perfect balance of ambition, experimentation, and talent.
