D.O. – I Stand Up ft. Fred Penner [Video]

Toronto, OND.O. (aka: Defy the Odds) just released some new visuals for an amazing collaboration he did with the legendary Fred Penner over at the Mad Hus Cafe. Yes, that’s right. I said Fred Penner- the guy from your childhood who probably introduced you to music in some way or another. This is a totally unexpected collaboration and I love everything about it.

The track is titled “I Stand Up.” It’s actually a remix of a track D.O. previously released. Except this remix performance is all acoustic. And – of course – it’s got Fred Penner on it. Penner takes us into it all on the hook: “I stand up/ I stand tall/ I stay driven/ And if I fall/ I stand up.” Shout-out to Slakah the Beatchild for directing the video. Check it after the jump.

This track rolls deeper than the ocean. D.O. gets close and personal with us. He’s not flexing about fame or fortune. He’s taking us back to the root of it all. He delivers bars about breaking free from childhood bullies and small-town mentalities in order to pursue the rap game. And that is what it means to “Stand Up.”

In October D.O. is rolling through Atlanta to perform at A3C. He’ll also make an appearance on the International Opportunities panel. Afterwards, you can catch him at the Amsterdam Dance Event. Lots of big things happening for D.O. right now. But I guess that’s what happens when your stand-up game is so on-point.
