T.Y. – As We Know It ft. Bo$quiat Clique [Audio]
Hamilton, ON – It’s #TYTuesday, again, people! As T.Y. gears up for the launch of his forthcoming project, he’s been releasing a new joint on us every single week. Actually, the original plan was to just drop remixes of classic hip-hop tracks.
But last week, T.Y. debuted some original material in collaboration with the Bo$quiat Clique. Guess it was pretty well-recieved. Because T.Y. brings it home again today by hitting us with another Bo$quiat Clique collaboration entitled “As We Know It.”
The track – itself – was produced by T.Y. and B3auu (who you may know as the producing-mastermind behind Bo$quiat Clique). It all opens up with some dialogue between the guys. As you may remember, last week’s joint opened up the exact same way (B3auu was talking during the recording and he got called out on it). This time, the dialogue consists of the guys trying to get their “No/ No” hooks on-pitch. Cute. Then the beat drops and EJ kicks things off. This beat is a serious vibe-out. The drum machine laces itself through a floaty series of chords. And it feels deep. Like the ocean. Shout-out to T.Y. and B3auu for cookin’ this beat.
After EJ, T.Y. comes in on the second verse. Then B3auu brings the third. And 88flow wraps it all up. The main hook you hear throughout the track is the repetition of one single work: “Everyday.” “Everyday” is just what the song title “As We Know It” refers to. You feel me? To each his own. You may feel blessed in your everyday. You may stay grinding everyday. You may really not like your everyday. But everyday, it’s your everyday. Shoot, that ran deep. T.Y. sums it all up on his verse: “If I could do this shit I’d do it everyday/ N*gga I’m tryin’ to do this shit everyday.” Then he gets a bit personal and talks about his family (they don’t talk…every day), his weed consumption (he doesn’t burn…every day), and booties (he likes to see them shaking…everyday).
So I know it’s not going to happen everyday. But I’m a big fan of these collabos between T.Y. and the Bo$ Clique. I’ve compared T.Y. to Joey Bada$$ before. So I’m ‘a level with you, here: T.Y. and Bo$quiat Clique together are very Pro Era. They hone in on each other’s strengths and create this big bro-ey Beast Coast sound. Except – you know – Ontario is technically Eastern Canada. So I guess that makes it more of a Northern Central Beast Coast sound. Either way, it’s dope.
