Breeze x Teeze – 4:16 [Video]

Toronto, ON – Toronto’s own Breeze x Teeze duo just dropped a new video for their track titled “4:16.” The song’s title refers to the 1 Thessalonians 4:16 bible verse: “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God; and the dead shall rise.” I also totally just realized that 416 is Toronto’s area code. Bam!

The video starts up with our boys ripping a page out of the bible and rolling it into a doobie. So this track really is a religious joint (pun fully intended, there). The guys tweak the bible verse and use it in on their hook: “When God comes down/ Real n*ggas won’t die/ Real n*ggas gonna rise.” This ish turns up and goes hard. The video was directed by Colin G. Cooper. Check it after the jump.

I’m not entirely sure what these cats are getting at, but here’s my theory: I think B and T are saying that redemption comes from living life on life’s terms. They’re definitely not saints (“Got God pissed off/ ‘Cause we be walkin’ on water/ Reciting our Father/ While we be f**king your daughter”).

But Breeze and Teeze don’t claim to be sinners, either. They’re just keeping things real. Therein lies the redemption; God comes down within all of us. So we are all a reflection of God. Also I’d like to point out that Teeze’s Twitter handle is @TEEJEEZUS. And Breeze’s Twitter handle is @BarbecueBaseGod. All Lil’ B references aside, these dudes are laying claim to being spiritual entities. Jesus. Base God. Think that over for a minute.

Check for this track on the upcoming SmashMouth Mentality Vol. 2 compilation tape, as well as on the upcoming Breeze x Teeze LP titled Dissrespectfull. And – as always – keep it locked on more tuneage from the SMMG fam.
