Charron drops new album; prepares for BET appearance Oct. 14

Ottawa, ON – After some seriously questionable treatment last year, BET battle champion Charron will get the shine he deserves at this year’s BET Cypher, October 14 at the BET Hip Hop Awards.

The timing couldn’t be better as the Ottawa MC has just released his new album, Lied To My Face. The 15-track release, available on iTunes, features a string of dope guest appearances including Slaughterhouse’s Crooked I, Madchild, Snak The Ripper, Merkules, Swisha T, Ness Lee, Chedda Cheese, Johnny Bravo, and even Rob Ford.

You can find more information after the jump including details about the release party and more on Charron’s BET situation. For now, check out Charron’s Lied To My Face on iTunes. Not sure who did the artwork on this one but they definitely deserve some recognition!

Going back to the BET fiasco, here’s the skinny for those that weren’t familiar with what happened last year: In March of 2013, Charron was crowned the winner of BET’s “Freestyle Friday” show, defeating several opponents over an 8 week span with the Grand Prize being an appearance on the BET Awards and $5000. He was the first Canadian to win in the shows 10 year history.

Unfortuantely BET never came through with the appearance for Charron which caused controversy and helped Charron garner national press that included CBC National News, Globe & Mail, the Ottawa Citizen, XXL Magazine and more. It’s great to see Charron finally get the opportunity he deserved and earned.

Charron has also confirmed he now has a monthly feature on TSN’s “Off The Record” TV show where he will film a monthly segment for the nationally televised show recapping the month’s top sports stories in a taped freestyle verse. Charron says, “I’d like to apologise to Ray Rice in advance of my first segment I’m taping for TSN.”
