Networking Opportunity: 3rd Annual CUMC starts Oct. 11 in Toronto [News]

Toronto, ON – Now in its third year, The Canadian Urban Music Conference is a celebration of a new generation of Canadian talent and powerful industry leaders on the cutting edge of city-inspired genres of music. Canadian Urban Music is unique in that it includes hip-hop, R&B, pop, reggae, soca and African popular music. This year, the conference is presented by G98.7FM and has found a new home at The Toronto Reference Library’s Bram and Bluma Appel Salon.

The events get started at 10:30 ET with the ‘Welcome Address’ by CUMC Founder, Eb Reinbergs and is followed by a ‘Keynote Interview’ with Rich Castillo, the new Director of A&R at Universal Music Canada. You can find the full schedule of activities on the conference’s official site. This is a great opportunity for aspiring artists to network with influential members of the music industry and for A&Rs to hear their music. Along the way, you’ll also have the chance to interact with artists, DJs, producers, CEOs, marketing experts, radio hosts, bloggers and more.

One of the things we’re looking forward to the most is the Young & Poppin’ Music Showcase taking place at Adelaide Hall (250 Adelaide St.) Saturday night. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the showcase starts at 9. Along with a ton of up-and-coming artists to look out for, you’ll be treated to performances by veterans Saukrates and JD Era.
