Jordan Rivers – Idols [Audio]

UPDATE: After such a positive response with yesterday’s posting, we’ve decided to run with “Idols” as our Song of the Day. Check it out below!

Toronto, ONOriginally published November 2, 2014 – Toronto MC Jordan Rivers just released his latest single titled “Idols.” Jordan gets in over top of some mellowed out Corbett production and hits us with a very direct message about overcoming the less-obvious obstacles in our day-to-day lives.

When you think “idols,” you might thing of entities or people of supreme worshipping-status. Jordan breaks it down a little further on here, though. Idols are the vices, people, and behaviours in our day-to-day lives that keep us reeled in: “Now I’m stuck here/ Staring in this mirror/ At my life/ These idols are here.”

And you know what? Said idols keep us from getting to that next level. Jordan indirectly invites us to take a thorough look at our lives and do some housekeeping; get rid of the Debbie Downer homies that are leaching your mojo, get rid of any vices that are holding you down, and start living your life for yourself. Bam! Talk about a serious Sunday pep talk.
