Luu Breeze – Bucket List (Freestyle) (Prod. BatmanOnTheBeatz) [Audio]
Toronto, ON – T-Dot’s own Luu Breeze just hit us with his latest freestyle titled “Bucket List” (produced by BatmanOnTheBeatz). Luu delivers a hungry trap banger for all of you cats fiending for a pre-weekend turn up.
Now I know that trap bangers have a reputation for simple lyrics and obnoxious beats. And don’t get me wrong, this is one wonderfully filthy obnoxious BatmanOnTheBeatz beat. But this track is a bit more intellectual than it seems at first listen.
I don’t know if this was intentional or not, but Luu pulls a bit of a chameleon on us, here, by showing us how versatile his delivery is. While Luu rattles off his “Bucket List,” he also gives a nod to the flow and delivery of some of 2014’s hungriest MCs: Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar. Check it out.
First off, there’s that Kanye flow that happens midway through the track at 1:16 when Luu’s all like: “Oooooh/ Luu is back, though/ They snuck me in right through the back door.” Dude seriously sounds like king Yeezus on that part of the verse. He’s bodying the bravado. Also, referring to oneself in third person (“Luu is back, though”) is a very Kanye West thing to do. Sarah Jay approves.
But then Luu switches things up at 1:29 when he goes “Vrooom/ vrooom” and dives into a Kendrick Lamar flow. Y’all know Kendrick has a very unique delivery – mostly in the rhyme schemes and pronunciation of words. And somehow Luu manages to deliver that. I don’t even know how he did that. For a minute I thought I was listening to Kanye, and then Kendrick jumped in. WHAT IS THIS MIND-WARP? This – ladies and gentlemen – is Luu Breeze.
