Skizza – 79 Cent Polar Pop (Prod. Mazz) [Audio]

Saskatoon, SK – Up-and-coming Saskatchewan rapper, Skizza, just hit us with his latest single release titled “79 Cent Polar Pop.” This is the first of a new weekly installation of music releases. Skizza plans to drop a new single on us every week to introduce himself and his approach.

Skizza - 79 Cent Polar Pop (Prod. Mazz) [Audio] -

“79 Cent Polar Pop” makes for a solid introduction. Skizza rolls over top of a simplistic Mazz beat and keeps us on the hook about his 79-cent grape-flavoured Polar Pop. Skizza’s definitely still developing his flow. But he’s got the hook nailed. A lot of cats forget about the importance of hooks.

Skizza laces the rest of the track with various anecdotes about his come-up, and tidbits of information about himself. He’s got insight from his coach (“Coach always said I had the eyes of a play-maker”), his ex (“My ex says I have a voice like a straight-razor”), and more. Skizza also takes a minute to shout-out Lil B and David Bowie. And he even brings us into his wardrobe: “I got a closet full of Jordans/ With a mic in the corner.” Dang. That was personal; up-and-close exclusive.
