Ain’t No Love – Summa (Prod. Birthday Boy) [Audio]

Toronto, ONAin’t No Love just hit us with their latest single release titled “Summa.” The track was produced by Birthday Boy, and it’s got this floaty carefree vibe. The track will have you nostalgic for everything you miss about summertime: watching the clouds roll by, being 110% more flirtatious than usual, soaking in the warmth of it all, and peeping all those lovely ladies in the breezy skirts.

Saidah (aka: the sultry soul goddess of the group) brought the track idea to the guys after a session she had with Birthday Boy. Ain’t No Love rappers 1990 and Beanz hopped in on some verses over top of Saidah’s dreamy vocals and wispy “Dreams about summer” hook. I mean, just take a listen to her lyrics: “Even though it’s rainy/ We be singin’ bout summa/ Boys talk about ladies/ And girls about lovers.” That’s smooth. The end result of it all is this updated house-pop variation on the classic porch stoop jam. It’s got some bounce in its step, and a whole lot of soul.

This track comes as a bit of a surprise, following the trio’s recent hypersexualized “Pussy Down” video release. But this has me reeling hard. These cats are on another level. They can hit you with a blatantly forward track like “Pussy Down,” or they can subtly seduce you with a more playful joint like “Summa.” And through it all, they stick to their M.O. of fusing different genres together. Ain’t No Love isn’t a hip-hop crew. But they’re not a pop trio, either. They just do their thing and keep things Ain’t No Love.

Make sure you keep it locked on the group’s forthcoming EP, which is slated for released via Warner Music Canada in February 2015.
