Charley Moon – Pity Party [Audio]
Toronto, ON – Higher Learning Culture’s own Charley Moon has dropped two freshly cooked single releases on us off his forthcoming AOE project: “Revival” and “Pity Party.”
“Pity Party” is a really solid getting-drunk-by yourself song. It is the ultimate pity party. Charley hits us with a bit of a Kanye flow, and makes it very clear that he doesn’t want to be alone. Seriously. Dude is moaning: “I don’t want to be aloooonnne.” But then he switches it up and decides that he don’t need nobody. Cue the repetition of the line: “I don’t need nobody.” Check it out.
This song bodies that struggle of self-pity that we’ve all had at some point. You feel me? You shift between extremes: one minute you’re sobbing because no one loves you and you feel like the world is sleeping on your hot fire mixtape. And the next moment, you’re like “F**K THE WORLD. I’M ‘A DO MY THING AND BE ME BECAUSE I DON’T NEED ANYONE” (those aren’t actual lyrics from the song, by the way – that’s just me paraphrasing).
Charley condenses it all on this track for us, throws in some of his signature cloud rap production, and nails out a deeply introspective track that will probably make you feel borderline uncomfortable with yourself.
I love how “Pity Party” and “Revival” are on such difference ends of the spectrum. Goes to show that AOE is going to be a seriously monster release. Charley’s switching up his game on us.
