Cquel – Unscripted [Audio]

Saskatoon, SKCquel recently released a new single on us titled “Unscripted” off his most recent October 2014 EP entitled Meal Ticket. The track (and entire EP – for the record) was produced by Relic – who y’all know is amongst the finest Canadian producers/rappers/he actually does everything on the scene right now.

This single is a floaty cloud rap jumble about Cquel’s perseverance through his unpredictable “Unscripted” life: “Most dudes will probably mail it in/ I weather the storm/ And face the wind/ Eventually sunny skies will turn to grey/ But that’s cool, man/ ‘Cause I’m okay.” Check it out below.

In keeping with this whole “Unscripted” business, it seems as though the song itself was more-or-less unscripted. I could be wrong, but I feel like Cquel didn’t stress too much over the structure of this track. Instead, the track comes across as a necessary tell-all that Cquel had to get off his chest.

Make sure you keep your ear to the ground on Cquel. He’s kicking off 2015 with a Western Canadian tour alongside Evil Ebenezer and Factor. So if you live in Western Canada, put that on your to-do list.

About: Cquel

Cquel toured Canada twice in 2014 with Factor Chandelier and Evil Ebenezer of the Stomp Down Killaz, and then co-headlined a Western Canadian tour with The Random Humans to finish the year. In 2014 alone Cquel co-headlined a show with Kyprios, and shared stages with Canadian hip hop heavy weights like SonReal, Merkules, Pigeon Hole, D-Sisive, Moka Only and more. Not only has his fan base grown significantly this past year, but his music and live performance has made him a difficult act to follow. Cquel is well on his way to captivating a much larger fan base and solidifying himself as an artist to be taken seriously in Canada and across the world.
