Dirty Harry – The Ride Home (Intro) [Audio]
Calgary, AB – Calgary up-and-coming MC Dirty Harry recently hit us with a teaser intro track titled “The Ride Home (Intro)” off his forthcoming Learning Curve 3 EP.
Y’all will want to get that #TLC3 hashtag rolling ASAP. Trust. This song is beast. And if you were lucky enough to roll through 10 at 10 in Calgary this week, you’ll have been lucky enough to have seen Harry perform this live from the Commonwealth stage (complete with that final hard-hitting “I’m a f**king stallion” line). Special shout-out to New’L, Fingaz, and Pleuto for hopping on stage during Harry’s set, too – you cats are mad cool.
This joint was produced by Melrose Zee, who you’ve probably caught a few times as the man behind the beats of other Dirty Harry tracks. The beat is smoked out cloud rap supremacy. Harry hits us with his bars and I’m just sitting there thinking, ‘Shoooooooot. This cat’s all grown up now.’ Harry’s been on the come-up for a while, and his flow has gradually matured. Listening to this (and seeing him perform live) solidified that he’s found his own Dirty Harry flow. The closest thing I can compare it to is Mac Miller’s flow (on this track, especially).
Some backgrounder for you: Harry’s a battle rapper. I always felt like he was trying to bring too much of his battle flow into his rap tracks and something always got lost in translation. But I’m not getting that vibe anymore. I’m feeling this flow.
It’s fitting, too. See, the track is titled “The Ride Home,” but it seems like that very ride home actually refers to a ride down the road of self-discovery. Home is Harry’s identity. And it seems like he’s home, now: “Your deception’s showing/ My whole perspective’s growing.”
