Jon James – Addicted ft. Evrlove Blake [Audio]

Calgary, ABJon James (who you might also know as McFee from the Loose Canon Playaz) recently teamed up with Evrlove Blake to deliver this new single release titled “Addicted.”

Jon and Blake hit us with a wavy smoked out beat (which was self-produced by Jon) and take us deep into the mind of an addict. Spoiler alert: we’re not necessarily talking about substance addiction, here. This joint is all about addiction to progressing in the rap game. Oh, and women, too. Women are addictive. Addiction usually has a negative connotation but I feel like this joint forces us to see it in a different light: “Want it so bad/ I’m addicted to it.”

This joint bodies the “go hard or go home” mentality. The hook is super sludgy and all-consuming; just like addiction. A lot of cats get hooked on the rap game: the women who really really REALLY love rappers, the high of hitting the lab to record, and the unavoidable urge to spit bars at all hours of the day. Even if you’re not a rapper, you’ll feel this. It’s all in the mindset; when you find something that gives you life, you may just find that it starts to take over your life.

Unrelated side note: Evrlove Blake definitely uses the line “…I’m making her moist.” I think that’s the first time I’ve heard Blake use the word “moist.” This is a major milestone.
