MD – Showtime ft. Saint Kris [Audio]

Vancouver, BCMD has been cranking out weekly single releases since the start of the new year. And he just hit us with his third release of the series titled “Showtime” (featuring Saint Kris). The self-produced track (which MD produced under the producer alias of MD of The Boomsday Alliance) gives a nod to the old school with a monster head-shaking beat of serious status that samples “Creation Of Love” by The Whispers.

This track bodies the kind of rap hunger that I crave. While some cats like to take a dump on all of their fellow rappers in order to look hard and hungry or whatever, MD and Saint Kris don’t play it like that. Instead, they clock in for “Showtime” and keep the spotlight on themselves and their moves in the game.

Kris and MD met in their hometown and worked a couple of jobs together where they – OBVIOUSLY – talked a lot of shop. You can feel that chemistry on another level. MD delivers the first verse as the beat drops at 0:20. He tells us about his come-up in the limelight and sends out a friendly reminder that it is – in fact – A-Okay to approach him IRL: “When you see me at appearances/ Say hi/ I’m going state-wide/ With a great vibe.” Then he wraps his verse and reassures us that he was made for the game: “You might be listening ’cause you came for Kris/ But believe me I was made for this.”

Saint Kris takes on the second verse and reveals a bit of a minor Kanye complex about the whole “Saint” part of his stage name: “Saint Kris on the track/ Tryin’ to bless it up/ Feeling holy and righteous/ Pen to the page to the stage/ I recite this book of rhymes I got in my mind.” And then he tells us about his fresh new fade and shouts out his hair stylist. Dude got a new haircut and everything. So it’s definitely showtime.
