SonReal, Tory Lanez, P. Reign, NBS & John River nominated for Best Hip Hop Video

Toronto, ON – The 2015 MuchMusic Video Awards nominations were recently revealed and features some stiff competition in the Best Hip Hop Video category. SonReal’s “Preach” is up against Tory Lanez with “Henny In Hand,” P. Reign’s “DnF” featuring Drake and Future, Naturally Born Strangers with “No One Knows My Struggle,” and rising star John River with “Hope City II.” SonReal also picked up a nod in the Best Post-Production category for his recently released “For The Town” video which promotes an EP by the same name.

Drake also has a second nomination as Most Buzzworthy Canadian, joined by The Weekend who’s “Earned It” also received a nomination for Best Pop Video. Meanwhile, The Weeknd’s other big single, “Often,” was nominated for Best Director (Sam Pilling) and the top award of the night, Video of the Year. But Abel will have to get through OVO’s Majid Jordan, as they’re also nominated for the big prize for their single “Her.” Their video was also nominated for Best Director (Common Good). On the Fan Fave side of things (vote online), Drake and The Weeknd are both nominated for Fan Fave Artist or Group while The Weeknd picked up an extra nomination with “Earned It” for Fan Fave Video.

The 2015 Much Music Video Awards are set to be held on June 21, 2015 outside the Much headquarters in downtown Toronto. Ed Sheeran will serve as co-host.
