Appreciate The Wait: After 9 years in jail, Halifax’s Corey Writes releases new mixtape

Halifax, NSCorey Writes was a kid on the come up when Halifax’s scene was going through a passing of the baton stage. The city was welcoming a younger breed of MC’s who were steadily showing and proving their worth to be heard. But right when that happened, he ended up getting locked up. Almost a decade inside, he’s had a lot of personal time to reflect and put into words his feelings and what he’s gone through. He portrays those real personal thoughts and expressions on his new mixtape, Appreciate The Wait. You’re not going to find much more straight from the heart feeling than on this tape; packed with a lot of variety to go along with it as well. There’s a little something for everyone on this one, mixed over industry beats and also featuring original songs. Writes is man with a story. He paid his dues to society and now he’s back and as hungry as he was before he went away, if not more.

In other Corey Writes news, earlier this week the rapper announced that he has a new single hitting iTunes on Feb. 10 by the name of “Overload.” For now, check out Appreciate The Wait below.

  1. Jeremy

This MC is the real deal ain’t nothing fake about him or his music. You can feel it through the lyrics that he spits. Classified may have made people turn their heads n look to Canada’s east coast hip hop scene but, Corey Writes is head and shoulders above him. If it were a game of 1 on 1 it would be like Jordan vs Rodman Corey of course being MJ.
