Kelvin and Munro branch off in epic solo project with single release of “For Sale” ft. Dash
Vancouver, BC – Local rappers, KIDS , are still savouring the sweetness of being named in our 15 West Coast Artists to Watch in 2016 article last month, but these guys are known for never slowing down their hustle. We love them as a group, but they individually bring us some pretty unreal projects as well. Last week brought the release of a new single from half of the act. Kelvin and Munro team up to produce a hauntingly epic project called “For Sale” which speaks on the commercial hold that we are affected by, as consumers, in a market which thrives off of supply and demand.
Regarding it’s creation, Kelvin explains, “Capital gain is masked by creating connection and desire. These sales tactics are seen in every industry… And become prominent leading up to Black Friday and the Holidays. We become overzealous and lose our connection with our inner selves, only concerned with face value. Combine that thought with Yukoners getting lost in Topman, and you have a song.”
Originally from the Yukon Territory, the two rappers paint a transparent perspective of the lifestyle that encompasses most aspects of city-life (and a relatable one at that). With production, remixing, and engineering by Kelvin, this probably won’t be the last time we hear of this new move as he makes the transition between “rapper” to “artist”.
But, what makes this joint really great, is the appropriate feature from Dash which lends an awesome contrast in vocals between the three. The thoughtful bars and futuristic production put a solid project in our hands to hold us over until a new album release, and tease some enviable skill from all each of the contributors. The new year is shaping up to be a good year for music, and these guys are coming full force with their best. But really, we don’t expect anything less from them.
