Belly releases new Spiff TV-directed video for “Trap Phone” featuring Jadakiss
New York, NY – Belly adds more visual support to his new Roc Nation mixtape Inzombia with the Jadakiss-assisted “Trap Phone.” The Spiff-TV directed video was premiered on GQ, who spoke to Belly about the inspiration for the video:
“In my mind I kept seeing that one scene from the ‘You’re All I Need’ video with Method Man wearing that Tommy Hilfiger jacket. That was such an iconic scene. I wanted to just recreate that, with the old school Tommy, the old-school clothes. You know, the dope boy vibe.”
In an interview with Billboard prior the tape’s release, Belly described the project as “a collection of moments from the darkest place I’ve ever known.” The Infamous-produced “Trap Phone” has an especially dark and somber feel to it, and the video brings that to life perfectly.
You can catch Belly on the Rubba Band Business Tour with Juicy J starting this January. Check out “Trap Phone” below.
Along with premiering the music video, GQ also spoke to Belly about the selection of gear brought back for the release, including his favourite piece:
“Oh man, its gotta be the purple ski jacket. That old purple Tommy ski jacket. And then the silver pullover is dope. That piece is crazy. I mean honestly all of them pieces are legendary, ’cause we were looking at stuff that I was looking at in my childhood that I couldn’t afford that I’m now rocking in a video. It was a good nostalgic feeling.”
And for the other brands he’s checking for these days:
“Mr. Completely is definitely something that stays on me. Really, I don’t check for brands as much as I check for style. If someone’s got on a really dope style, I look at the brand later. You know, I’ll be like “I need that piece,” and then I’ll check what the brand is after. Mr. Completely is literally the only jeans I wear though.”
And on his plans for next year:
“Yeah, man, I am. I’m getting to work with some of the producers that I grew up dreaming about working with, and some of the guys that are making waves right now. It’s gonna be a culmination of everything I’ve learned, my whole life taking in this music and taking in everything. From experiences to different projects to different eras in this music shit.”
