Clairmont The Second enters partnership with Black Box; kicks off tour with SonReal

Toronto, ON – When you’re rising teenaged Toronto-based rap phenomenon Clairmont The Second, and you’ve had the most successful year of your very young career, releasing a critically acclaimed indie project Quest for Milk and Honey, that was voted one of the top 25 Canadian albums of 2016 (#17) by CBC, what do you do for an encore? How about partner up with a successful record label, get picked up by a major booking agency, go on tour, and then re-release your regional hit album – with four new bonus tracks – for wider North American and global consumption.

Black Box Music, one of Canada’s premiere and diverse international independent music companies with dedicated teams in Toronto and Los Angeles are delighted to announce the newest addition to their roster, Clairmont The Second. “Clairmont is one of the most prolific young artists we’ve ever come across. Quest For Milk and Honey is a phenomenal piece of art and we are so proud to partner with him to re-release it to the world,” says Ian Stanger of Black Box Music, the label responsible for releases from numerous respected and accomplished Canadian rappers including Classified, Shad, SonReal, Rich Kidd and Kayo.

Boasting a high energy live show which saw Clairmont perform alongside Goldlink, Lil Yachty and Harrison, he also recently joined the roster of the Feldman Agency, Canada’s largest entertainment booking agency, which means his unique sound will be heard and experienced in live concert settings by a lot more hip hop and soul music enthusiasts throughout North America. Last year, Clairmont participated in Toronto’s first TeamBackPack Cypher with John River, Kayo and Raz Fresco among others, and was featured on strong collaborations with Tika (“Oh My God”) and Last Gang producer Harrison (“It’s Okay, I Promise”).

As a result of the organic buzz that was being generated by this kid from the west end of Toronto who not only raps well, but produces, mixes and masters his own music, 2017 is already starting out with a bang. Clairmont is featured on neo-noir trip-hop crew Del Bel’s “Do What the Bass Says”, the first single from their forthcoming album. And the Quest for Milk and Honey (Black Edition) reissue album out now featuring four new bonus songs proves it is entirely possible to write incredibly clever rhymes over a special blend of soulful self-produced beats, minus any predictable rap clichés (e.g. the album contains no swear words).
