Oakville’s oz impresses with debut EP, BLUE
Oakville, ON – Get familiar with Oakville artist oz, whose debut EP BLUE will go down as the most slept on project out of Canada this year. oz had previously been a part of a rap trio called CHILDHOOD, who also released a debut tape called Holiday early 2016.
BLUE is a 7-track EP and oz truly stands on his own as both a rapper and singer. The blend of soulful and bouncy production is the perfect match for the young artists’ versatility. oz starts the project off with a hazy yet melodic track titled “The Key” but quickly switches to his rapping form on “Changed Up”, which includes a soothing, joyful feature from Lexicon The Lexiconist. The atmospheric vocal delivery on the track “truth” makes for a catchy tune with a hook that’s sure to be stuck in your head for days. The closing track “Blur” is the most stand-out performance from oz on the entire EP with the young artists’s charisma seeping through his verses the whole way through. The vibrant and danceable beat is an instant ear-grabber and oz is able to switch flows, going from rapping to singing without missing a step. The Oakville-native lets us know he’s been lit since he came out, which is hard to deny given how amazing this track is.
This EP is sweet and soulful from start to finish and it’ll be interesting to see what direction oz goes with his music from here. Be sure to click play on this one.
