HMLT debut 4-track EP of sultry love songs, buu
From live bands and church performances to street busking, Asian food festivals to dirty dive bars, the brothers have done it all. Now, brothers Corey and Wong have seamlessly transformed into a live electronic duo called HMLT (pronounced Hamlet), named after their father who passed in 2008. Noting their parents for their musical gift, HMLT is a tribute to their father’s sense of rhythm and their mother’s voice and ear.
The brothers continue their journey of musical discovery with four cotton candy love songs coloured Majin Buu pink in their debut EP ‘buu.’ ‘buu’ explores the stages of being in a relationship while searching for purpose and meaning within. The sultry, sung melodies and ambient groove take you to a place of reminiscence.
HMLT says, “These 4 songs were conceived more than 2 years ago and they still continue to have meaning for us today. It’s been a journey but now it’s time to take the next step.”
For the live electronic act, music is a symbiotic relationship that is best experienced together. On their writing process, Corey says, “We just do it – it’s innate. He plays guitar and sings and I play piano and produce. We build off the progressions and melodies that we write and try not to confine ourselves to a genre. We’re just trying
to make music that we enjoy in hopes that others will too.”
