T Dot Stand Up: Toronto duo Primal Winds pay tribute to city with album debut

Toronto, ONOriginally published April 9, 2017 – It was February 2016 when Iron Wind and Primordial Emcee, two-thirds of Toronto rap group Faction, entered a CBC Music competition in an attempt to prove they could write a hip-hop anthem for the city of Toronto.

While “T Dot Stand Up” did not win, it would serve as inspiration—and as the centrepiece—for the first Primal Winds album, the duo selecting various titles to write to along with selecting subject matter solid enough to have substance and carry the same emotional weight as the title track.

With T Dot Stand Up, Primal Winds is bringing back that classic golden era vibe, featuring guests rapper Fortunato and UK MC Cuban Pete, singer Lucy Lovesick, and cuts by DJ Cross. Produced by Iron Wind and co-produced by Primordial. Mastered by Fresh Kils.

Want more Primal Winds? Stay tuned as they venture into exciting new and obscure territories with Give No Quarter dropping in the summer and The Renegades out by the end of the year.
