Photo suggests Drake & Tory Lanez have ended their longstanding feud
Toronto, ON – After years of exchanging lyrical jabs, it seems Drake and Tory Lanez have ended their beef. A photo of the two Toronto artists is making the rounds on social media and giving hope for possible collaborations down the road.
The beef started – at least in part – on the HipHopCanada message board in the mid 2000’s so it’s only right that we post on the reconciliation now. It’s been mentioned several times that the tension started back when Tory Lanez offered to put up $10K if Drake didn’t like his music.
The details that often get left out is the fact that this exchange happened on the HipHopCanada message board where both Tory Lanez and Drake were active members – along with most of the current OVO roster.
The post was made by Tory with the 10K offer, and OVO Hush (going by Young Tony at the time) was one of the first people to respond encouraging Tory “to just send the money over.” A clear indication that he didn’t think his buddy Drake would be feeling what Tory was bringing to the table.
Just a short anecdote about an ongoing rap beef that seems to now be dead in the water. Ultimately, it’s better for Canadian hip-hop for our top dogs to work together. Hopefully we’ll see a Drake / T. Lanez collaboration in the near future.
The photos were posted by both artists on their respective social media platforms. Tory included the word “Toronto” in a tweet containing the photos, while Drake captioned an Instagram post of the pic with ““The city needs more of this and less of that.”
@Tariqblakk21 @austenmorrow @LorenzoWindrow @Bryant100898 @Ziplock_Zach @torylanez 100% true & happened before Drake blew up. Tory posted the 10K offer on the HipHopCanada msg board & it was openly discussed by our members.
