Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” passes “Gangnam Style” as most watched YouTube video
Pittsburgh, PA – Since first breaking on to the mainstream with his 2010 Stargate-produced single, “Black and Yellow,” Wiz Khalifa has remained in the upper echelon of rap personnel and has proven to be quite successful. The song would be come Wiz’s first number-one single in the US.
He wouldn’t top the chart again until 2015 when he released “See You Again” (featuring Charlie Puth) for the Furious 7 soundtrack as a tribute to late actor Paul Walker who passed before the movie was released. “See You Again” was the best selling-song of 2015 worldwide, with combined sales and track-equivalent streams of 20.9 million units according to IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry).
That song would become the first hip-hop record to reach a billion views on YouTube and also the first song to two surpass two billion. Yesterday, the “See You Again” video passed Psy’s “Gangnam Style” to become the most viewed video in YouTube history with over 2.894 billion views.
