Lou Val premieres “Lil Mama (CAMEINFREESTLE MIX)” & “Rush Hour” on OVO Sound Radio

Toronto, ON – Over the weekend Toronto artist Lou Val premiered two new tracks via Episode 50 of OVO Sound Radio: “Lil Mama (CAMEINFREESTLE MIX)” and “Rush Hour.” The tracks premiered at the very end of Oliver El-Khatib’s set before Jaegen and Toddla T each delivered a special guest mix for the episode.

One of the most exciting new wave up-and-comers, Lou Val has a distinctly soulful artistry that straddles the lines between R&B, soul, and rap. He’s got some faster bounce tracks, as well as a handful of downtempo after-hours R&B tracks. He’ll occasionally throw a little bit of melodic rap into the mix, too. “Lil Mama” rides out on a faster trap drum line that takes centre stage over Lou’s drippy mumble raps about his “Lil Mama.”

“Rush Hour” switches pace completely, taking the tempo up a few notches with one of GOVI’s electronic-dipped R&B beats. That track sounds like it could have been a Majid Jordan song. It’s got that heavy electronic influence, the melodic emotional vocal delivery, and a hook that sticks like glue: “Good is not forced/ Good is not forced.” Listen to “Lil Mama (CAMEINFREESTLE MIX)” and “Rush Hour” below, and then go scope the rest of Lou’s music on SoundCloud.
