Robin Banks addresses shooting & getting past it on new “Save Me (Remix)”
Toronto, ON – Robin Banks is not to be counted out. He may have been forced to slow down the incredible pace he was moving at – and his voice is understandably different while he continues to recover from being shot multiple times (we’re told 9 or 11 times, including once in the neck) – but his new song makes a strong statement. You can slow him down, but he’s not planning on going anywhere but to the top of the rap game.
When news of the shooting came back on April 3, we weren’t even sure he’d survive the attack, let alone address the incident in newly recorded music. The “Save Me” remix just does that, while acknowledging that the attempt on his life could be a sign of more attacks to come, and he’ll prepare accordingly. He loosely hints at retaliation, but stops himself from really getting into it.
YouTube comments are suggesting some fans are struggling to adjust to the change in Robin’s voice, but even more are calling it fire, and praying for his recovery. One user called it a “minor setback for a major comeback.”
Say what you want, the man survived a deadly shooting and not even half a year later he’s pushing forward and pursuing his dreams. This new tune sees him jumping on the instrumental for Meek Mill’s “Save Me” single originally produced by Philly-born producer, Dougie. Whether you like Bank’s version or not, this should at least give you hope for more new material down the road. Stream it now below.
