A hip-hop radio show is only as good as the DJ that's spinning and/or the hosts that are speaking out to you. Thankfully, The B.R.L. Show comes equipped with a solid roster in both aspects.

June 6th, 2008, that's a date that should stick in your heads. It's the day history was made when The B.R.L. Show (Beats, Rhymes & Life), "if you didn't know" had its first breath of fresh air... waves that is. The first day they officially hit the radio airwaves DJ Alive and Ya Favourite Lightskin (Dynamic) kicked off a new show on Ottawa's CHUO 89.1 FM. On that day they also held their first on air interview with an upcoming Ottawa artist by the name of 9_4. Phones wouldn't stop ringing for requests, Hold It Down Media was in the station documenting the show on video and overall it was a great sign of things to come. The show was a success, the audience took notice. In fact, it sounded like they had been doing this for years!

With still plenty to learn and plenty to do, the weekly B.R.L. show is quickly taking on an important role in the Ottawa scene as a key provider of Canadian hip-hop radio. Mixed in with viewer requests and a strong line-up of music with each show they complete, B.R.L. is gaining a strong fan base of supporters and is making it's presence felt.

"It's not just something you take for granted when you have an opportunity to speak to the listeners... you have to make sure it has a purpose without coming off like you're preaching, said Dynamic, the show's co-founder and co-host along with DJ Alive. Dynamic has been on the mic for over 8 years and DJ Alive has manned the 1's & 2's for over 10 years. They aim to create a foundation for others to build off, says DJ Alive:

"The scene is hurting when it comes to anyone who is willing to help out for free with the growth of our community and it is really sad because we have a lot of great talent."
