Ty Harper
Ty Harper is one of those dudes you meet that speaks very little on what he does unless asked directly. He’s the guy who, when you see him, makes you say to yourself “I know this dude..but from where?”. Born and raised in Malvern until his parents took the family to Trinidad to live for 8 years, Ty is one of the lucky ones that got the best of both cultures. Working in HMV 333’s “Bassment” was another lucky opportunity that helped in his growth and appreciation for music. Starting at FLOW 93.5 as a board-operator lead to his meeting rez DigitaL who was a member of Team FLOW. After realizing rez’s similar interest in becoming a personality, Ty pitched him the idea for OTA Live and the rest was history. rez’s production-savy abilities clicked with Ty’s vision for a show that did more than just play the songs. With a drive to provide and balance the culture of hip hop with the culture of Toronto, Ty hopes to be a pioneer among the likes of Ron Nelson, Paul E. Lopes and Master T, all of whom he considers “Godfathers” of the Toronto hip hop movement. For Ty nothing is more important than respecting their sacrifices and building the heart of Toronto’s culture through music. If OTA Live is his first venture to that goal, then he’s on the right track. Contact Ty at tyrone@flow935.com.
