thought I'd share this link to a series I heard about a while back and never got to start watching it until just today... very interesting and educational. The series is called 'Black in Latin America' each episode is only 50 minutes long. I just watched this ep about Mexico & Peru's black history.... here's the description Mexico & Peru: The Black Grandma in the Closet Quote: In Mexico and Peru Professor Gates explores the almost unknown history of the significant numbers of black people—the two countries together received far more slaves than did the United States —brought to these countries as early as the 16th and 17th centuries, and the worlds of culture that their descendants have created in Vera Cruz on the Gulf of Mexico, the Costa Chica region on the Pacific, and in and around Lima, Peru. Watch full episode. Anyway, check out this link, to see that episode and a few others that visit Brazil, Dominican Republic and Cuba: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/black-in-latin-america/category/video/

I know about Caribbean history, I took Caribbean Studies courses in university, and all I have to do is look at my own Jamaican family (mixed with Black, white, Indian and Cuban) and I see how mixed up Caribbean families are. 4) I'm not a history teacher. You think that everyone who works in education, is an expert in black history? Yeah black history is the number one subject in school, huh? Are you really THAT dumb? Of course you are!!! .gif)
