Back again with another Single for your listening pleasure. This one is some good ol` tunes from 1996, both songs are actually from the "Rhyme & Reason Soundtrack" (DoPe soundtrack by the way, a well-rounded selection of artists). Here you get the Mack 10 & Tha Dogg Pound collabo` "Nothin` But The Cavi Hit", which was produced by Daz (tracks #1-3, track #4 the Remix Instrumental was produced by Soopafly). It`s a nice G`d up back~drop & these 3 West Coasters rock the thumpin` beat with ease...

The other song on this Single is by Master P, Mr. No Limit himself & it`s titled "Is There A Heaven 4 A Gangsta?" It`s produced by KLC, Mo B. Dick & Craig B., all (at the time anyway) members of Beats By The Pound. The beat itself is kind of eerie which is DoPe because it`s well suited for Master P`s very valid question; is there a Heaven for a gangsta? On this CD Single you also get the Clean, Explicit & Instrumental versions of both songs. So gon` on & check out the music, UHHH...

Here`s another CD Single from 1994 by Da Funk Clan a.k.a. DFC titled "Things In Tha Hood", just like the album that this Single`s from. One thing that I noticed almost right away was the fact that Nate Dogg doesn`t appear on any of the versions on this Single even though he`s featured on the LP version of the track. Instead Reuben Cruz from Po` Broke & Lonely? (the R&B group that dropped their debut album on Ruthless Records) takes his place on all three versions on this Single. He does a good job, definitely no complaints here -- he`s just not Nate D-O-Double G. Warren G produced the Radio & Extended versions while Chris "The Glove" Taylor produced the Remix. Maybe it`s because I used to bump the "Things In Tha Hood" album in my Sony Walkman a lot back in my high school days, but personally I still like the LP version of "Things In Tha Hood" more. However these versions here aren`t bad by any means, so go on & give `em a listen for ya`self...

Another Promo CD Single for y`all, this one is Devin The Dude`s "Do What You Wanna Do" released in 1998 as promo for his debut album titled "The Dude". A side~note, both "Do What You Wanna Do" & "Boo Boo`n" later appeared on Scarface`s double CD compilation titled "My Homies" also released in 1998. I believe that N.O. Joe produced "Do What You Wanna Do", while Domo produced "Boo Boo`n". Both tracks are DoPe & humorous, my opinion of course. What`s great is that even though they are Radio versions they`re not edited in an annoying matter because Devin rewrote his verses just for the occasion, I always ReSPeCT the kats that do that. So go on & check it out...

Today I have for y`all a 12 inch single from the "Bulworth Soundtrack" from Dr. Dre & LL Cool J titled "Zoom". It`s a bangin` track produced by both Dr. Dre & Chris "The Glove" Taylor. Something interesting to note about this song, the original version actually featured Snoop Dogg & had Dawn Robinson singin` on the hook (check that song here -- Not the best sound quality). Apparently the original version was supposed to be for some Dre & Snoop collabo` album titled "Break Up To Make Up", either the album idea was abandoned or it was just some B.S. rumor because neither the album or the song were ever released. Somethin` else worth a mention is that Dre used the same beat for a song on King T`s "Thy Kingdom Come" album, that song is titled "6 In The Moe`nin`". In the end this 12 inch version of "Zoom" with LL Cool J ended up bein` the only joint to get an official release. I say this because King T`s "Thy Kingdom Come" was only 'kind of sort of' released officially however it was a good few years after the album was actually completed. Anyway do ya`self a favor & check out the single, for those wonderin` the Acappella has explicit vocals -- no edits here...

Was DiGG`n in to my CD Singles again, so today the first one I`m going to share with y`all is Daz Dillinger`s "In California" Promo CD Single. From what I can tell this joint was mainly handed out to radio & club DJ`s to help promote Daz Dillinger`s 1998 solo album "Retaliation, Revenge & Get Back". This song reminds me of the Summer, just kickin` it smokin` a few joints enjoying the nice warm weather......LoL, something that I`d love to be doing now! Can`t wait for the winter to end!!! Anyway this Single only has 3 tracks on it; the Radio version, the LP version & the Instrumental. One thing that I enjoy about this joint is that Daz took some extra time & rewrote some of his lines for the Radio version so there`s no annoying editing done to the track. The thumpin` beat was produced by Soopafly with some co-production by Daz himself, while Val "Lady V" Young provided the DoPe singin` on the hook. So go `head & check it out...

The other day while gem searchin` I came across this single (far from a gem, but whatever....LoL) up in a pawn shop for a good ol` $1.50 so I decided to grab it since I didn`t have it in my collection yet & now I`m sharing it with y`all. It`s nothin` really super spectacular, what ya get is a deep emotional track ("Father") that`s from LL`s 1997 album "Phenomenon", it`s instrumental & then the single closes out with the "4, 3, 2, 1 [E-Dub Rmx]" (sadly it`s the Radio Edit) that features Method Man, Redman, DMX, Canibus & Master P...

Obviously the "4, 3, 2, 1 [E-Dub Rmx]" is the joint for me on this one, even if it is a Radio Edit. "Father" is a decent song, but in all honesty I always found it kind of funny that it was chosen for a single. There were other joints that were far more 'radio friendly' than "Father". I mean when you look at the content of the "Phenomenon" album you can see that at least 95% of it was geared towards the ladies, so who knows maybe LL wanted to go for somethin` different by selectin` this emotional track for a single. Either way give the single a listen, enjoy...

Felt like listenin` to some Master P today so I decided to dust this off, it was released in 1997 & is off the "I`m Bout It Soundtrack" (it also ended up on Young Bleed`s 1998 No Limit Records debut album titled "My Balls & My Word"). Craig B, KLC & Happy produced the beat while Master P, Young Bleed & C-Loc take care of the rhymes, each spittin` a verse. Somethin` cool to note is that "How ya Do Dat" is actually a remix, if you notice at the beginning of the track you hear Master P say, "Ughhh How Ya Do Dat Remix". I always wondered what he was talkin` about since I had never heard the original...

So I did a lil` research & before Young Bleed signed to Master P`s No Limit Records, back in like 1995-96 he was rollin` with C-Loc & the Concentration Camp & they had a hit #1 record rockin` in Baton Rouge titled "A Fool", that`s what helped Master P take notice of him. Well it turns out that "A Fool" is actually the original version of "How Ya Do Dat" -- so now that mystery is solved, you`re welcome....LoL...If you`d like to read a lil` more about Young Bleed you should check out this interview that he did with HipHopDX.com, it`s definitely a good read! This Promo CD Single gives you the Radio, Street & Instrumental versions of "How Ya Do Dat", check it out & enjoy...

Gon` jump back to 1998 with this post....LoL, what I have for y`all is Wyclef Jean`s CD Single for the "Gone Till November Remix". On this single you get 3 tracks plus the Instrumental for the "Gone Till November Remix", all 3 songs are pretty DoPe so ya won`t be disappointed. However my favorite track is the last one titled "No Airplay - Men In Blue", I just really like the beat on this one! Canibus, Khadejia Bass & R. Kelly all show up to help `Clef out on the "Gone Till November [Making Run Remix]". It`s a decent joint, however I still kind of prefer the original version myself. The "Guantanamera Remix" has a nice lil` twist of Reggae courtesy of an uncredited appearance from Beenie Man. So go on & check out the music, I sure you`ll enjoy...

What`s up y`all? I haven`t been able to post anything up the last week or so because my computer was infected with a virus or something. Needless to say it was totally fucked! Thankfully my lil` bro` was able to put a band~aid on things & get my computer up & running again, much appreciated bro! Now let`s get to the music shall we???

What I have to share with y`all today is a 1996 CD Single from Mr. "Pimp My Ride" a.k.a. Xzibit titled "Paparazzi". The single`s from his solo album "At The Speed Of Life" also released in the same year. I remember this E-Swift produced track very well because it was really the first time that I had heard Xzibit rap. It was gettin` plenty of rotation up on the college Hip Hop radio shows at the time of it`s release. I dug the beat, but really dug the lyrics because Xzibit was spittin` the real. That`s how I was feelin` about the game at the time, actually it`s still pretty much how I feel to this day....LoL, anyways give it a listen I know you enjoy it...

Here`s a 3 track CD Single released in 2008 from DJ Revolution that features the Blastmaster KRS-One titled "The DJ", the song`s from DJ Revolution`s 2008 album "King Of The Decks" (very DoPe BTW) which was released on Duck Down. KRS-One does his thing reppin` for the DJ`s while Revolution provides the foundation for KRS` lyrics, check it out & enjoy...

It`s been a long minute since I was last on the boards....LoL, for the sake of boredom, I went thru this thread & edited the posts of mine that had dead links. Now the only posts in this thread that aren`t by me are dead links, mod`s if ya have the time go `head & delete `em :)

I`ve been a BiG fan of The D.O.C. ever since I first discovered his music back in the Summer of 1991. My PoPs` nephew hook`D me up with a bunch of HiP HoP cassettes & one of them just happened to be The D.O.C.`s debut album "No One Can Do It Better", from that day on I was a fan! I DiG "It`s Funky Enough", "Mind Blowin`", "Beautiful But Deadly", "The D.O.C & The Doctor", "No One Can Do It Better", "Whirlwind Pyramid", "The Formula" & the N.W.A. posse cut "The Grand Finale". Let`s just say I played the cassette all the time til that one fatal day that my walkman ate the tape up beyond any type of repair, TRuST me I even had my PoPs attempt some sort or CPR.....LoL...

Sadly much like the cassette that had been jammed & crushed in my yellow walkman, it wasn`t long after I had just started getting into The D.O.C. that he was involved in a car accident leavin` him with a crushed larynx. Many thought that his career was over, but he returned with a dark raspy voice (similar to that of a DoPe fiend) & dropped a second album in 1996 titled "Helter Skelter". A side~note, I believe that at one point in time Dr. Dre & Ice Cube were working on a collabo` album with the same title & this is why Dr. Dre had a lil` beef with The D.O.C. a few years back. Anyway The D.O.C.`s "Helter Skelter" album didn`t do too well sales~wise. Personally I just think that folks we`re comparing him to The D.O.C. of the past, before the Life altering accident. They weren`t ready or willing to accept change or artistic growth. To my ears the album is DoPe, a much more darker one than his debut without question. Erotic D handled the production providing D.O.C. with the perfect backdrops for his lyrics...

What I`ve got for y`all is a CD Maxi-Single, it features both the Album Versions & Remixes for 2 tracks off the "Helter Skelter" album; "Return Of Da Livin` Dead" & "From Ruthless To Death Row (Do We All Part?)". The remixes are alright but nothing too special. Gotta say that I DiG the Album Version of "Return Of Da Livin` Dead" more than the Remix, even though the Remix has a decent beat behind it. Maybe it`s because the Album Version samples "It`s Funky Enough" from his 1989 debut album or maybe it`s because it takes me back to the time I seen the music video for "Return Of Da Livin` Dead" on Rap City. The D.O.C. was dressed as a zombie~like character breakin` out his coffin, I guess it was to symbolize his return to the game. I thought the video was iLL & well done, couldn`t find it on youtube though. Once I can rip VHS tapes to my computer I`ll post that up here for y`all. Anyway, "From Ruthless To Death Row (Do We All Part?)" is an iLL story~telling track, The D.O.C. talks about his side of things during his transition from fuckin` with Ruthless Records to Death Row Records & beyond. Again I gotta go with the Album Version on this one, the Remix uses a sample of "Eric B. Is President" & features Erotic D on the intro though. Erotic D handled the production on all 4 tracks of this Maxi~Single, go `head & check it out...
